ABOUT

Kenyan singer/songwriter Lucinia Karrey is part of the new generation of African artists raised on music from everywhere. Equally in love with pop, afrobeatz and kikuyu gospel, she creates music that spans genres. Each of her songs explores ways to translate powerful emotions into melodies, sometimes playful, sometimes full of heartbreak. About her single Pop Star, music blog Extravafrench delcares, “Pop Star is a statement. A way of saying I’m here, I’m ready and I’m doing it my way.” Her latest kikuyu gospel release Kiroko is positive and propulsive. While she’s a fan of alt-afro artists like Qing Madi and Tems, Lucinia often brings a more electronica sound to her own afro-indie soundscapes.
